C01: Adaptive Photon Therapy in the Treatment of Lung and Liver Tumours

Tumours of the liver are associated with breath-dependant movements. Thus, the application of precise and conformal radiotherapy presents a major challenge. In order to deliver an exact high dose of radiotherapy in a moving organ, these movements need to be ascertained using an optimized image-based approach. A knowledge base will hereby be generated, which will allow these movements to be predicted, ultimately enabling a dynamic adaption of radiation beam application. This aims to improve the chances of patient cure and reduce side effects.
