C02: Biological and Time Adaptive Therapy of Pancreatic Carcinoma

The use of heavy ion therapy in the treatment of pancreatic cancer has the potential to improve the biological effectiveness and tumour response through its unique radiobiological and physical characteristics. But the dose distribution of a particle therapy plan is more susceptible to changes of gastrointestinal filling (stomach and small bowel) than conventional X-ray treatment. Through observing and analyzing these day-to-day anatomical variations, models will be developed, thereby enabling the creation of robust particle therapy plans, which are minimally susceptibility to these changes.
